October Campout – Fire Building/Safety Focus

The October campout will take place at Camp Beechwood in Sodus, NY. Beachwood is approx. 45 minutes from the Tay House Lodge. Drop-off and pick-up will be in the camp parking lot. There is a short hike to the campsite, so you will need to carry your own gear. Therefore, ensure equipment is packed efficiently for the greatest portability. Dinner on Friday night will not be provided, so scouts will need to bring their own dinner. Please refrain from bringing peanuts or foods containing nuts on the hike.

Program Focus:
The main program on Saturday will focus on fire safety. October is Fire Prevention Month in the United States, aimed at increasing public awareness of fire safety and prevention, commemorating the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
During this campout, scouts will work on Second Class Requirements 2a-2d, which focus on safe outdoor fire building, as well as First Class Requirement 7e to develop a home emergency action plan.
