Rooted in Tradition, Focused on the Future

Tay House Troop 19 was founded in the pioneering spirit of 1919, built on a simple yet powerful philosophy: Scouts learn best when they learn from each other. This foundational principle, established by the troop’s founders, continues to guide us today. For over a century, Tay House has provided a unique environment where young men are empowered to take ownership of their scouting journey. We honor our rich history while constantly evolving to meet the needs of today’s scouts.

Empowering Youth Leadership

A defining characteristic of Tay House Troop 19 is our commitment to being entirely boy-run.

A Boy-Run Troop

We believe in fostering leadership from within, allowing our youth leaders to take the reins in planning and executing troop activities. From organizing meetings and campouts to teaching essential scouting skills, our scouts gain invaluable hands-on experience in leadership, teamwork, and responsibility. Adult volunteers serve as crucial mentors and provide administrative support, but the energy and initiative of our scouts drives the program’s direction and decisions.

Hands-On Growth

Practical Leadership in Action

Our unique scout-led model means scouts don’t just learn about leadership – they live it. From planning campouts to teaching skills, they gain invaluable, real-world experience in guiding their peers and driving troop activities, fostering true self-reliance.

Building Character Through Action

Tay House Troop 19 is deeply committed to the mission of the Boy Scouts of America: to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Through our program of outdoor adventures, skill development, and leadership opportunities, we provide a framework for scouts to internalize these principles. Character is not just taught, but built through active participation, challenging experiences, and the bonds formed within our troop community.

They provide invaluable mentorship, guidance, and administrative oversight, ensuring the safety and well-being of our scouts while empowering our youth leaders to lead.
