Joining Requirements


  1. Be 11 years old, or have earned the Arrow of Light in Cub Scouts, or have completed 5th grade.
  2. Repeat the Pledge of Allegiance from memory.
  3. Demonstrate the scout sign, salute, and handshake.
  4. Demonstrate how to tie a square knot.
  5. Understand the Scout Law, Oath, Motto, Slogan, and the Outdoor Code.
  6. Describe and explain the parts of the scout badge.
  7. Participate in a scoutmaster conference.
  1. Submit a completed Boy Scout application and health history signed by your parent of guardian.
  2. With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet "How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse and Drug Abuse" found in the front of the Boy Scout Handbook.
  1. Repeat from memory the Tay House opening ceremony (includes the Pledge of Allegiance and the Scout Law).
  2. The scout must have a complete uniform.
  3. Give a brief history of Tay House.
  4. Explain the Tay House leadership structure.
