Friends of Tay House

Friends of Tay House, Troop 19, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded to promote the activities of th scouts and leaders of Tay House Troop 19.

Tay House ahs been a very well guided troop for many years and has had many successfult fund-raising activities. In the past, when the tree sale was much larger, the tropp had a surplus of funds. For more than ten years, the troop's finance committee has managed those funds. To date, the finance committee has provided over $20,000 to fund the troop's Super Trips and other educational trips. It has also added to the troop's budget when there are shortfalls in fundraising. With the addition of the memorial fund to the finance committee's, stewardship, it also provides funding to families that cannot afford summer camp and other trips.

Through the years, the troop has received donations and estate gifts, but those funds have had to go through our council in order for the donors to recceive the tax benefits from them. The troop committee felt the need to create our own charitable organization to provide greater protection to our current assets as well as to be able to accept charritable donations from our alumni, friends and parents.

Donations revived by the Friends of Tay House provide funding and other assistance to:

  1. promote camping, leadership, training, summer camp, and other scouting related programs for the members of the troop and,
  2. help members of the troop develop leadership skills, foster citizenship, and increase awareness of the environment.
