Spring & Fall Equipment List

Required Equipment

  • Pack or knapsack (something to carry all your gear in)
  • Sleeping bag (and one extra wool blanket, if desired)
  • Ground cloth
  • Toilet kit (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, ...)
  • Towel
  • Flashlight
  • Pocket knife
  • Pocket notebook and pencil
  • Mess kit & eating utensils (cup, bowl, spoon - minimum)
  • 2 pair underwear
  • 2 shirts
  • 2 pair pants
  • 1 wool shirt and 1 heavy sweater or sweatshirt
  • Sleepwear (pajamas or sweats)
  • 1 jacket
  • 1 hat
  • 1 pair gloves
  • 1 raincoat or poncho
  • 4 pair socks (2 wool, 2 cotton)
  • 1 pair hiking boots or similar outdoor footwear with rubber over-boots. A waterproof combination of footwear is important.
  • Scout handbook (for 2nd class scouts and below)

Optional Equipment

  • Canteen
  • Compass
  • Whetstone
  • Small first aid kit
  • Foam pad

DO NOT BRING

  • Candy
  • Comic books
  • Extra food
  • Axes/Hatchets
  • Pets
  • Sheath knives
  • CD, MP3, or tape players, radios, video games, or other electronic devices
  • Cell Phones
  • Matches (These are troop and patrol leaders responsibility)

Remember

You will be carrying your own gear! Therefore, use good judgment when packing.

All food in the box lunch must be eaten Friday night or it will be confiscated for the remainder of the hike.
